HISTORY

Frozen Food Express Industries, Inc. is a publicly owned transportation company headquartered in Dallas, TX.  An established industry leader with over 60 years experience in cold chain management, FFE is a premier provider of temperature-controlled LTL and truckload transport, superior dry van service, and innovative solutions in logistics services, including expedited, ocean and brokerage services.    

Frozen Food Express Industries, Inc. is currently comprised of four operating units; FFE Transportation, American Eagle Lines, Lisa Motor Lines and FFE Logistics.  These subsidiaries provide highly reliable on time pick-up, in transit and delivery performance locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.  FFE retains some of the most specialized equipment in the business, cutting edge industry technology and drivers trained in safety and security to ensure service is always superior and product protection is not compromised.

FFE Driver Academy, Inc. was first developed in January 2011 and established in Fort Worth, TX where it received its first approval from the Texas Workforce Commission.  In preparation for the industry driver shortage, FFE is providing its own school and company-sponsored training, from the ground up to assist in overcoming this driver shortage, while advancing truck driver training, proficiency, and professionalism to put safe, quality drivers on the roads.

FORT WORTH, TX CAMPUS

Located in the heart of the industrial district of historic Ft. Worth, TX, our campus sits on 7 acres of property, and is specially designed to meet the needs of new driving students.  Students are housed comfortably on site where they enjoy many amenities, such as: laundry facilities, refrigerators, microwave ovens, cable TV, study hall, computer lab, and more.  Our spacious backing range allows students to receive quality, on site instruction.  The location of our school is ideal for providing students with all of the tools they need to get their Class-A CDL and become a safe, professional driver.  All of our instructors are approved by the Texas Workforce Commission and have a minimum of 3-years experience, which ensures that each student receives the highest quality training available in the industry.  

 

 

 

 

MINIMUM ENTRANCE AND HIRING REQUIREMENTS

 

1. Minimum of 21 years of age.

2. Able to provide photo identification and original Social Security card.

(Name on Social Security card MUST match name on photo identification)

3. Must be U.S. citizen or obtain permanent Immigration and Naturalization Service resident or work status.

4. Non-Texas residents MUST provide Birth Certificate with raised state seal.

5. Must provide all licenses held in last 3 years.

6. Valid 3 year driving record.

a. No more than 3 month suspension

b. No reckless or careless driving charges

c. No more than 1 preventable crash

d. No more than 2 moving violations

7. No alcohol related convictions within the past 5 years.  No more than 1 charge in a lifetime.

8. No convictions regarding sexual acts or drugs (with intent to sell or distribute).

9. No positive drug or alcohol test.

10. Able to provide verifiable 3-year work history.

11. Proof of unemployment, if applicable.

12. If self-employed, must provide proof.

13. If employer no longer in business, proof of income must be provided.

14. Military service must be documented with copy of DD214.

15. Able to pass Department of Transportation drug screen and physical examination.

 

* Minimum requirements have been set forth by the FFE Transportation Services Corporate Compliance and Safety Department.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION

 

For successful completion, a student must:

 

a. Attend and complete all scheduled course hours

b. Obtain a Texas Class-A CDL Permit, no later than Day-4

c. Maintain a minimum score of 80% GPA in both academics and skills

d. Maintain satisfactory attendance

e. Obtain Class-A CDL license, no later than Day-16

f. Complete all of the above items in 18-days

 

PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE

 

FFE Driver Academy, Inc. will only offer the Professional Driver Training Program and employment opportunities to students who meet hiring standards, successfully complete the requirements for graduation and intend to commit to 12 months of employment.

Program- Professional Driver Training

Program Total= $5,415.00

Tuition= $3,900.00

Total Fees $1,515.00 (Registration Fee- $ 100.00, Book Fee- $25.00, Housing Fees $1,260.00)

FFE Driver Academy program with a 12 month Commitment = FREE

 

Time Frame

 

The normal time frame necessary to complete the program is 16-days of School, plus a 2-day Company Orientation, for a total of 18-days.  In order to maintain satisfactory progress, a student must attend and complete all scheduled course hours and complete the program within the maximum time allotted.

 

Program Description:  The Professional Driver Training program is designed for the student with no commercial driving experience.  Our 18 day program offers quality classroom, behind the wheel, road and range instruction with an emphasis on driver safety.  Graduation from this program will result in Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and graduate may find entry level employment as a commercial truck driver.  Our goals are to advance truck driver training, proficiency, and professionalism and to put quality drivers on the roads.  

Program Prerequisites:  Student must obtain a Texas Class-A CDL Permit, no later than Day-4, in order to advance to range instruction on day 4.  Student must maintain satisfactory attendance and a minimum score of 80% GPA in both academics and skills in order to be qualified for the next evaluation period.  Student must obtain Class-A CDL license, no later than Day-16, in order to qualify for advancement into Company Orientation, held on days 17 and 18.

 

Program Length:  The normal time frame necessary to complete the program is 16-days of School, plus a 2-day Company Orientation, for a total of 18-days, or 2 weeks + 4 days.  In order to maintain satisfactory progress, a student must attend and complete all scheduled course hours and complete the program within the allotted 18-days.  The total program length is 140 clock hours.

 

66 hours- Classroom

44 hours 15 minutes- Range

29 hours 45 minutes- Street/Road

 

Enrollment Periods:  Weekly enrollment begins each Monday.  School graduation occurs each Tuesday.  Company Orientation begins each Tuesday and finishes each Thursday.

Things You Need To Bring

2- $70.00 for Permit and CDL fees.  The DPS office accepts cash and money orders only.  They DO NOT accept debit/credit cards.

3- Enough money for food and necessities until your 1st paycheck. (Approx. 30 days)

4- Current drivers license

5- Original Social Security Card * The name on your Social Security card MUST match name on your photo identification.

6- Permanent Immigration and Naturalization Service resident or work status, if you are not a US citizen.

7- Voided check if you want your paycheck direct deposited upon hire.

8- Bedding (twin sheets and blanket or a sleeping bag)

10- Enough Clothes for at least one week; weather specific.  Much of the training is done outdoors.

11- Toiletries: Towel, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, tooth paste, razor, sunscreen, laundry detergent, etc.

Only bring what you need during your school and training period.  There is limited space for storage and in the truck with your over the road Trainer. The limit is two bags plus your bedding. You can pick up the remainder of your possessions, once you are in your own truck, during home-time.

 

Entry Level Requirements and Pay Rate

 

School Requirements:

Attend the FFE Driver Academy and successfully complete the 18 day course

 

Paid Training Requirements:

Driver will go out with a Driver Finisher for SIX (6) WEEKS.

 

Pay Rate:

$455.00 per week while in training

After successfully completing training the CPM rate will be the following:

.29 cpm upgrade to 180 days

.30 cpm 181 days to 365 days

.31 cpm at 366 days
